Senior Nutrition Program
Description

The volunteer filling this position will assist the Nutrition Program by working with her/him on a team with other volunteers (if applicable) who complete in-home assessments and re-assessments for home-delivered meals (HDM) clients in Thurston and Mason Counties. In order to recieve Meals on Wheels, homebound persons 60 years of age and older must have an in-home face-to-face assessment done initially when they enter the program and annually thereafter.

Qualifications: Strong passion for working with seniors; warm, kind, non-judgmental energy; have experience with GPS, Google Maps or MapQuest, hae experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, and record keeping. 

Reports directly to the Senior Nutrition Director

4hrs weekly, flexible schedule. Working closely with clients who have dementia related diseases, providing entertainment and assisting staff with enrichment activities while giving much needed respite to their caretakers.

Must have current TB test! CPR and Food Handlers may be required.

3.5 hrs weekly located at the Olympia Senior Center. Budd Bay Bargains, sells donated clothing, accessories, some crafts and collectibles. Volunteers process donations, cashier, merchandise product as well as light housekeeping on the sales floor. If you have excellent customer service skills and want to work in a fun environment, join the retail team.

2- 4 hours weekly. Food Handlers permit is required for most SNP volunteer positions. Volunteers help to ensure that no senior goes hungry, Senior Services offers Meals on Wheels, Community Dining and Senior Nutrition Consultation in Thurston and Mason County. Volunteers opportunities include meal prep, serving, lunchroom set up and break down, MOW delivery and administrative support. Food Handlers required for Kitchen volunteers. Proof of insurance required for Meals on Wheels drivers.

Our Well Check Program is great way to volunteer from home. Give weekly calls to seniors suffering from loneliness and Isolation. You'll be calling seniors just to check in. This program is launching in June. Computer Skills needed so we can track all phone calls and  and update the log - for now the spreadsheet will be in Google Drive, training in advance.
